Time Loop
It seems that it's about five and a half years ago since I bought my current VHS/DVD player, so perhaps to the cynic at least, it is no great surprise that it has expired. I doubt there's much wrong with it inside; it's just not responding to any of the controls (on the box itself, not just on the remote) so something isn't transmitting power. I'm hopeful it will be possible to repair it; as the digital signal isn't great in these parts I don't really want to fork out for anything new just yet. I haven't looked but I recall we probably have Mrs Q's VHS/DVD (DVD player only) up in the loft, so it may get dusted off for playback purposes at least. We haven't eliminated our stocks of VHS - not least The Sun Makers.

My MP was on Channel 4 News arguing that an Irish bail-out was really no business of ours. I can see his logic up to a point, but in fact I think it highlights the weakness of his position on Europe: in this context, not being in the Euro-zone is just like the fax democracy position of Icelandic/Norway/Liechtenstein of being in the EEA but not in the EU - you get to do as you are told, but have no influence.

Current Mood: sour

I believe I have a spare DVD player you can have [although I seem to recall offering this last time and there was an issue with gaps between tracks on CDs?]. Anyway, the Sunmakers is pretty much next on my list of VHS tapes to convert to DVD, so a digital copy can be arranged (although I suspect an off-air broadcast would be much better quality).
