Actually, that wasn't too bad. It's what I've come to expect from RTD, some clever ideas not always explored, mixed in with some not-so-clever ideas. Probably not as good as Rose - but then again, we haven't been waiting since 1989 this time. At least the Slabs didn't turn out to be super-compressed Slitheen. We assume that the Captain Jack thread will re-emerge sometime in the series.

The villain should have been played by Thora Hird. The consultant was clearly Mr Pettifer from number 42.
