The Slow Train

kharin and I caught up with strange_complex yesterday evening. We embarked on the stopping train to Oxford as we got to Reading station just as there was a dearth of Oxford-bound services. Nevertheless, we had fine food and a good evening at Al Salam, a Lebanese restaurant on Park End Street. As well as food (in my case, Armenian sausages with pine kernels as a starter, proceeding to ground lamb with garlic and sesame as a main course), we enjoyed a bottle of white wine from the Bekaa valley, perhaps less distinctive than Chateau Ksara but still perfectly pleasant. The Lebanese coffee was definitely worth a try, very aromatic and flavoured (I think) with cardamom.
