Big mistake. Unsurprisingly, the Burghfield Common Puddle has returned, though it is quite passable on one side of the road. However I had to follow behind a geriatric Volvo-driver who could not bring himself to go anywhere at more than 20mph (some of the roads round here were clearly built by the Romans, well above the water line and long straight stretches). By the time I got to Tadley, the good (and not-so-good) burghers of Tadley had preceded me, and their car park was well and truly full. So I returned, and surrendered to the Calcot Sainsbury's instead.
I was out for more than an hour and a half, and conducted a trolley around the aisles for somewhat less than 20 minutes. I returned to glorious sunshine, so thought I would hang the washing out. By the time it had finished the spin, the clouds were gathering.
At about 7 this morning I knew I did not want to get out of bed. That feeling has never really gone away.
