The End of The Pier Show (and other shops)

I shall write about my Christmas soon, but for now, shopping. I ventured out today, and found the shops busy, but not insanely so. I appear to have attained the age where I consider most things "on sale" to be tat, and instead buy half-price wrapping paper. Notwithstanding, I think £20 for a John Lil box set of Beethoven sonatas is probably unreasonably good value, and I also managed not to avoid Waterstone's 3 for 2 - I'm fairly confident I will enjoy Alan Bennett's The Uncommon Reader and Markus Zusak's The Book Thief, not so sure about Rose Tremain's The Road Home. It would appear I should spend more time reading and less on Teh Interweb.

I also ventured into The Pier, to find that, perhaps unsurprisingly, the only things for sale there were the fittings, so no new scented candles then. In an unfortunate twist of fate, the till in Whittard's had broken and the shop assistant was having to do everything by hand, with quite a queue. I am now wondering whether the pack of Spice Imperial I bought inter alia will be my last. It's similar to Chai and is just the sort of thing for wintry weather.
