I can report that in culinary terms at least, 2009 is off to a flying start. Chez rosamicula last night we began with mulled wine jelly before moving on to a deliciously marinaded roast goose, with tasty vegetable selections, then an indulgent wheat-free (for owlfish) Chocolate Chestnut Truffle cake for dessert.

I may have made an inappropriate comment about a House Elf based on the way rosamicula summoned mr_flay to the dinner table, but we'll sweep that under the carpet. Our exit was well timed, we comfortably caught the last fast train back to Reading.

I LOLed just from imagining the house elf comment... and drooled from the rest. Sorry to hear about your credit card woes, though - I hope all becomes clear once you get the full details.

Just catching up- sorry to hear about the card and car traumas and delighted you enjoyed the dinner. The cake was wheat-free for me, really, as wheat is bad for my joints.

I loved the House Elf comment!

Ah, I assumed the recipe was not only named after owlfish.

On the side-dishes, My Husband and I particularly enjoyed the leeks. Would you be able to write up the recipe for that sometime?
