I decided I'd get my tyres done this morning. With hindsight, I should have phoned the garage first. Instead I just set out, but only got as far as Burghfield Village before a traffic jam. As this extended as far as I could see (beyond the M4 bridge - presumably ice or flooding in the vicinity of Burghfield Bridge) I decided to turn off towards Theale and brave the canal bridge, but that road wasn't passable either, so I've come home.
On arrival I met
kharin, who hadn't been able to make it all the way into work either due to other accidents on the ice. It took him more than 2 hours to get in to work yesterday due to flooding. In other news, the current assessment is that his car likely
is a write-off, though that's yet to be confirmed by the insurers.
Let's hope this is all cleared up by next week. At the moment, my thoughts on the new job are: "I've got a bad feeling about this".
