Every time I have been to Total Tyres in Binfield (as initially recommended to me by uitlander), I have missed it on the first pass. This morning I thought it had gone for good, as the site where I expected to find it was occupied by a rather new and shiny veterinary surgery. Fortunately, on the return trip I regained my bearings and did manage to find it, and I now have new front tyres. The previous set only lasted 18 months, but when I took the car into the Honda dealer a few months back for its warranty repair on the electric windows, the "free safety check" flagged badly worn front tyres (not that the dealer pointed that out, as obviously there would be no money in it for them; the only thing he was interested in was the worn brake pads). The guy at Binfield identified that the tracking was out and said that's why they had worn so unevenly and quickly, so that's been fixed now as well. I don't know whether that's a black mark against Burghfield Bridge Tyres who did the previous fit, but it was worth the trip to Binfield to get it all sorted out.

It is a mark against Burghfield Bridge Tyres I'm afraid. The tracking on the tyres needs to be checked each time they are changed, and correctly aligned or they will wear out before time because of uneven wear. Binfield tyres are wonderful, cheap and extremely efficient. I am thinking of factoring in a trip to Reading when my tyres next need changing as I would much rather they did the job.

And there was me thinking Binfield was a bit out of my way!

Well, I might consider factoring in a visit to people on the way through. Thing is, I know the tyre place there will be straight and honest with me. My experience of the Cambridge motor trade people is so far sub-optimal.
