Snowmaggeddon - The Titfield Thunderbolt
Heisenberg might have stayed here
We woke up this morning to a dusting of snow; by the time I was heading off to gather provisions it was snowing rather more heavily. I am glad I set out when I did; I observed a bus stopped with its hazard lights near the AWE on the way out (Reading Buses have now suspended this end of the 2/2A, of course), and it was mayhem climbing Burghfield Hill on the way back. The Jazz handled it quite reasonably; all my problems were due to other road users coming to a halt. Perhaps I should have a Clarkson icon instead. No sign of gritting or ploughing, of course - though it's probably too late for the former and maybe they're waiting for the latter. Or maybe they'll do nothing. The current forecasts seem to suggest that snowfall should be limited to today, but we have several inches now and if it's going to be cold I don't see it shifting any time soon, so it may be necessary to exercise our severe weather policy at work on Monday, we'll have to wait and see.

Clay Hill Road is less steep that Burghfield Road, worth remembering in times of snowfall or when on the bike.

That is true, but then you have to navigate down - and up - Hawkesworth Road. Or become lost somewhere beyond the Co-op.
