Book Review: Professional NoSQL, by Shashank Tiwari
This provides an overview of several NoSQL databases, including examples on reading and writing data, as well as performance and transaction characteristics. It's not especially in-depth, but that wasn't my expectation. Unfortunately, though not unexpectedly, there's a lack of standardisation in this area. Certainly I think CouchDB, HBase and Cassandra are worth exploring for some of the issues I experience at work; and serendipitously, some of the explanation about Google's Bigtable may also explain if not solve one of our recent issues with Google.
