The Sincerest Form of Flattery

Last night uitlander and I went to see The Play What I Wrote. It's difficult to know what to expect with tribute acts - you can have high expectations even though you know it is never going to be as good as the real thing.

It was a bit of a curate's egg: good in parts (indeed, I would go so far as to say very good at times) but a bit patchy in others. One has to remember that Morecambe and Wise did hours and hours of TV over the years, and goodness knows how many hours of live entertainment, and everyone's favourite bits are distilled into, at most, a couple of hours of filler TV repeated endlessly Christmas after Christmas, with the rest being almost instantly forgettable. As we went on Buy One, Get One Free evening, I think we had fair value for money, but at full price I think this would have been a little thin for an evening's entertainment.
