I really have no sympathy for Mr O'Leary. Earlier this week he was on the news stating that if an item wasn't safe in airline hand-luggage, it wasn't safe on the Eurostar or the Tube. That seems to ignore the problem of an explosion in a pressurised cabin at 10km+ in the atmosphere. Put bluntly, planes generally go down with all hands; most of the passengers on the 7/7 tubes and buses survived. If he feels that the current security level is causing difficulty for him, perhaps he could persuade the government to allow larger hand luggage and a lower security level for Ryanair, and see what that does for his business?
